The songs themselves are wittyand extremely varied,he's in excellent voice and his own rather tasty acoustic guitar playing is augmented by a group of talented musician friends

Mike has a gift for melody and a good hook...but what keeps you interested for the most part is the intelligence (and musicality) with which his ideas are expressed. In general there's enough promise in his songs like the moving The Last Box, the tender Catch This Line and the more reflective Says Who and A Fox Is Just A Dog With A Bad Reputation, and also in Mike's own confident finger-picking, to justify keeping a watching brief on Mike's future activities, during the course of which I suspect more (of his talent) will be revealed.

The lyrics are smart, often humorous and the music contains good melodic strands and memorable moments...You know, there are any number of artists of Mike's vintage who won fame and acclaim and money, highly well-known performers who are still releasing albums that sell in the many, many thousands who would give their right arm to be writing a song as good as the title track here.
