"Our August guest was Mike Reinstein. There was a remarkable variety in all his songs. Some were funny, some were poignant and some were both. All of them showed a great deal of craft, both in their composition and delivery. One of the wittiest, most articulate performers we’ve ever welcomed to the Queen’s Hall, Mike is an excellent and thoughtful songwriter. He was erudite, polished and intelligent."

Geoff Veasey, Nuneaton Folk Club

"A brilliant singer and songwriter."

Mike Harding

"A superb songwriter. His songs take witty and wonderful snapshots of the planet’s follies and absurdities – he’s a fine fingerpicking guitarist too."

Robb Johnson

"A compelling performer and established songwriter, Mike Reinstein is a wonderfully dextrous wordsmith whose incisive analysis of the human condition is leavened with warm humour."

Stuart Reed
Brighton Acoustic Folk Music Session

"Mike’s songs are brilliantly crafted…they are insightful, sometimes sad but always thought-provoking."

Hove Folk Club review

"He won't see 50 again, but Mike Reinstein – who once fronted a band called Doris – finally gets to release his debut solo album More To Be Revealed (Irregular). Very enjoyable it is too for Reinstein is a finger-picking guitarist with a developed sense of the absurd and a rich way with words. The edgily sardonic nature of songs like Last Two Jews In Kabul, Hitler's Little Pinkie and the reggae-inflected Tungsten Not Lead, puts him in a similar ball park to masters of wordplay like Jake Thackray, Leon Rosselson and Robb Johnson, on whose label he now appears."

Mike Reinstein is a master performer. He has that rare gift of swinging effortlessly between poignancy, edginess and wry humour. The strength of his songs and his engaging personality sometimes masks the astuteness of his playing - a rare gift in professional circles- let alone from a performer whose mainstay is the local scene. Reina, Mike's wife, adds yet another lovely dimension to the songs when she joins him for a few numbers. Let's hope that a new CD is forthcoming which really reflects their fantastic live performances.
